Music lover John Hamilton has progressed from busking to presenting his own radio show. John's show, which airs each Sunday between 2 and 4pm, represents his eclectic taste in music which can range from country and blues to pop and hip-hop.
John joined Sunny Govan in 2012 to further pursue his interest in music, he said, “I have been interested in music since as long as I can remember.” A multi-instrumentalist John can play the harmonica, mandolin and bango, “I used to busk at East Kilbride shopping center. Back then I never would have seen myself presenting a radio show.”
Now John's show reaches a wide range of audiences. He said, “I often play songs which would be recognized by other members of my generation but I was surprised a couple of weeks ago when a young girl visited the station and recognized my voice from the show. She enquired about a song she liked, which was by Dr John.” Thankful for the opportunity Sunny Govan has given him, John said, “Sunny Govan has given me something to do. I love the camaraderie, they really reach out to the community.”
